Resumen

The objective of this research was to determine the levels of generic skills in the teaching of Biology. The quantitative approach was applied, of a descriptive type with a non-experimental cross-sectional design, the population was 65 students and 7 teachers of Biology-Natural Sciences and Biology-computer science. For the validity and reliability of the instruments, it was carried out with the expert judgment technique and the Cronbach's Alpha coefficient obtained was 0.905. The results show significant differences of 46.8% teachers apply generic skills at a medium level, 33.9% a high level, and 19.4% a low level, with interpersonal skills (46.8%, ) and teamwork one of the skills that presents the highest level of application in teachers and students, followed by systemic skills (37.1%) and instrumental skills (30.6%), which are the least developed and within this group the capacities of critical thinking, problem solving, information management, creativity and project management, are those that demand more attention, to develop skills in the efficient action of their citizens and prepare professionals capable of solving problems of your context and work environment.
