Resumen

Drinking water is essential for life, and public health is directly affected by its quality, especially in hospital environments, where a safe supply helps prevent diseases. This study evaluated the physicochemical parameters of drinking water in a healthcare facility in Pampas-Tayacaja to determine its compliance with sanitary standards. Through a stratified probabilistic sampling, a quantitative experimental study was conducted to analyze pH, electrical conductivity, turbidity, and residual chlorine. Over a twelve-month period, five critical nodes of the distribution system were selected, including key supply points and high-demand areas. The results indicated that turbidity exceeded acceptable limits, while pH and electrical conductivity remained within the permitted ranges. This suggests the presence of suspended particles that could promote microbial growth or interfere with disinfection. Additionally, variations in water quality could impact the distribution system infrastructure, increasing the risk of obstructions and pipe corrosion. It is concluded that the drinking water in the healthcare facility does not fully comply with quality standards, making it essential to strengthen its monitoring and implement corrective measures, such as additional filtration and disinfection optimization. These actions will ensure a safe supply, reduce health risks, and protect the infrastructure of the supply system.
