Resumen

The study of population growth is fundamental in demography, ecology and other disciplines. This phenomenon refers to the change in the number of individuals in a population during a determined period, and can be influenced by various factors such as birth, mortality, inmigration and emigration (Sposob, 2024).
The model of Malthus, (Thomas Robert Malthus 1766-1834), describes the population growth as an exponential process. According to this model, the population grows at a constant rate, which means that the population is duplicated in regular time intervals if there are no external limitations (He et al., 2021a), meaning that the population tends to increase more than all of the subsistence resources, and that its excess will eventually increase. disappear in the room, epidemics and wars.
The population increases exponentially when the recursos are unlimited. The basic formula is (P(t) = P_0 e^{rt}), where (P(t)) is the population in the time (t), (P-_0) is the initial population, (r) is the increase rate and (e) is the base of the natural logaritmo (He et al., 2021b).
The limitations of the model are that we do not consider the capacity of the load of the average environment nor the availability of resources, which can lead to predictions that are not realistic at large (Tomiyama et al., 2020). The logistical model, introduced by Pierre François Verhulst, adjusted the Malthus model to include the load capacity of the average environment, which is the maximum number of individuals that can be sustained (Taira, 2021c). The formula of the logistic model is (P(t) = \frac{K}{1 + \left(\frac{K - P_0}{P_0}\right)e^{-rt}}), where (K) is the cargo capacity. This model shows that the increase in load decreases depending on the load depending on the load capacity (Taira, 2021b), if the load capacity is at the maximum load limit that can be maintained without degrading. This model is more realistic and considers the limitation of recursos (Taira, 2021c).
These models are used to predict population growth. Malthus's model is useful to understand the initial growth, although the logistical model is more adecuado for long-term predictions whose recursos are limited (Oluwaseun et al., personal communication, 2022). These models are applied in various areas such as ecology, economy and urban planning to prevent population growth and plan for the use of resources (Bhadula, 2021).
